Juliet Roberts Interview

When did you first realize you wanted to be a musician and recording artist?

I wanted to do it even before I knew what it was. I would write songs on top of the jungle gym at recess and sing songs to the sky. My mom also had a recording room where she let me write jingles and practice recording songs I made up.

I lived in Mammoth Mountain, CA for a winter season after I graduated and got a residency at a local bar to open for bands once a week. I would walk to the gig with the guitar on my back and play every Saturday. That was my first job being hired for music and I think that was probably when I knew I wanted to do it as a career.

Which music artists do you look up to?

Gosh, there are so many amazing artists I admire and look up to. The ones that Come to my mind are Jason Mraz, his messages in his songs and his beautiful connection with music and the craft of songwriting have always been a huge inspiration for me.

Celine Dion is another that comes to mind. She is a monster when it comes to her vocals and tone. She was the first singer I that I loved and when I learned of how she respected and took care of her voice as an instrument it changed my life and my voice forever.

If you were out for a walk, who would you be listening to in your headphones?

Haha, I guess it depends on what type of walk? Am I walking up a steep hill burning calories haha or am I having a casual stroll in the neighborhood?

If it is relaxing to walk of thought and relaxation, I would be listening to Brandi Carlisle or Madeleine Peyroux :)

What advice would you give to other female artists trying to make it?

We get so caught up in making it that you might lose the beauty and the moment in music in front of you. Have fun, play your music, and enjoy the moment. And if you’re very serious about making it in music, then set goals and work hard. You can have your head in the clouds but you need to also be running around here a lot on earth to make it happen.

I feel the saddest thing are those who have their head in the clouds but are also waiting for “it” to happen – it doesn’t work like that.

Your song “Finally Mine” was recently released and is a perfect wedding song. What is the meaning and backstory to the lyrics of “Finally Mine”?

“Finally Mine” is about the ever eluding love. The one you have waited for and wished for and you finally get to see it happen and for you to finally have it! The feeling of a love that was always meant to be and finally comes to be.

For those who don’t know Juliet Roberts, what would you want people to know about you?

My songs always reflect a piece of me. Also, I feel you can get to know me by listening closely to the sound and tone of my voice. That is where I am truly myself and where my soul resides. I have 2 dogs, Ginger and Tucker :)

I perform very often as a duo with my guitar player and love of my life Elliott Jason. I am lucky enough to travel and play shows with Elliott -my best friend.

I’m all about being true to your heart and following the little voice inside.

A final note from Juliet:

I’m really excited this song will be used in so many beautiful memories. Weddings are such a big part of someone’s life and the songs used for the wedding are cherished forever. A true gift for me to be a part of those memories.
