How did Blane’s musical journey begin?
I always sang in the choir growing up in Middle School and High School and sang in church as well. My mom’s side of the family was always singing around the dinner table, too. All of that led me to attend Belmont University in Nashville, TN where I majored in Commercial Music: Vocal Performance.
Who are some of the artists that have influenced Blane and his style of music?
I’ve had influences from all over the musical spectrum. Mostly I grew up listening to Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Randy Travis, etc, but I also had a lot of influence from singers like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Elton John, and Michael Buble. I really enjoy singing all kinds of music.
Blane released “Promise To Love Her” a few years ago. Can you tell us the backstory of the song?
My wife and I got married in October of 2016, and “Promise” was a surprise wedding gift to my wife because I was unaware of the gift exchange between bride and groom on the wedding day. lol, I surprised her and her family with it on the morning of our wedding, and she loved it so much that we used it as our first dance and got to surprise our entire reception as well! A short clip of us dancing to the song was posted on social media, and people started reaching out asking if they could use the song for their weddings. Since then, people continue to find it and stream it, and the song has recently surpassed 120 Million streams, and the music video spent 17 weeks on the CMT 12 pack Countdown Show!
Do you have any favorite lyrics in “Promise To Love Her”?
Well, the whole first verse is 100% true. I really drove 500 miles from Nashville to my wife’s hometown in south Arkansas to ask her dad for permission to marry his daughter. Also, even though I wrote it in 2016, in 2020 my wife and I welcomed a baby girl, which brought a whole new meaning to the bridge section.
“Promise To Love Her” makes for a great wedding song. Can you share any wedding stories with the song?
I’ve sung this song at so many weddings that it’s hard to choose just one. I’ve literally been across the country to sing it for people’s weddings. Long Island, NY; Monterrey, CA; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; even Cancun, Mexico! It has taken me all over North America!
If you were able to play with any current music artists, who would they be and where would you play?
As far as country music goes, I love Brothers Osborne, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Carly Pearce. I’ve known Carly for almost 15 years. She’s the sweetest person and a wonderful singer and songwriter.
Outside of country music, I’d say, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, or Lady Gaga. They all perform and write in different ways, and they are just incredible on stage.
What is your proudest moment in the music industry? Have any goals?
My proudest moment so far in music, is mostly just all the places I’ve played, the stages I’ve shared with other artists, and the amazing fans I’ve met along the way. It’s hard to choose just one moment. “Promise To Love Her” hitting 100 Million streams was a cool moment, too.
As far as goals go, my main objective is to be on a major tour, playing my music for a different room full of people every night. Hopefully, that step isn’t too far off now.
Do you have any plans to release new music or upcoming projects?
I just released a new album in February of this year that I started working on before the pandemic even started, so it’s nice to finally put that out. I am also working on a Christmas album that will be released later this year.
